The New International Student Orientation was meticulously planned and organized to provide an informative and warm welcome to new international students at Mount Saint Vincent University. This event aimed to foster a sense of community, offer essential information, and ease the transition for students from diverse backgrounds.

Outcomes:

  • Successfully welcomed and oriented around 130 new international students, helping them acclimatize to university life and Canadian culture.​

  • Received positive feedback from participants for the well-organized and welcoming nature of the event.

  • Enhanced the students' understanding of university resources, academic expectations, and support services.

  • Project Management: Effectively managed the planning and execution of a large-scale event.​

  • Cross-Cultural Communication: Engaged with students from various cultural backgrounds, demonstrating strong intercultural communication skills.

  • Organization and Attention to Detail: Coordinated multiple aspects of the event seamlessly, ensuring all logistical details were handled, such as catering and supplies for attendees.

  • Team Collaboration: Worked closely with university staff, external vendors, and volunteers to deliver a successful event.

  • Problem-Solving: Addressed and resolved any issues that arose during the planning and execution phases.
